Is More Snow Coming To New Hampshire This Weekend? Depends On The Forecast

National Weather Service says a snowstorm is "likely" to track to the south of NH while television forecasters have been hyping a big one.

CONCORD, NH — For several days, television weather forecasters have been hyping a significant winter snowstorm heading to New England.

Each report, including the popular WMUR-TV weather forecasts, was calling for a major nor’easter just days ago. Forecasters did, however, place keywords strategically in their forecasts: “Possibly” was one; “maybe” was another. “Projected storm track” were others. The National Weather Service and AccuWeather, though, reported no snow for New Hampshire.

Partly sunny skies and 32 degrees, the NWS report said on Sunday night when Patch updated the weather for everyone. AccuWeather also had the bulk of the storm moving entirely to the south of Massachusetts, with intermittent snow in the southwestern part of the Granite State.

The NWS posted a question Tuesday night: “So what's the deal with the weather this weekend?” Forecasters said the storm was unlikely to pass close enough to bring significant snowfall. But, as with everything, keep an eye on the latest forecast to find out precisely what is happening. The NWS Wednesday also slightly changed its extended forecast, moving Saturday from partly sunny skies to a “chance” of snow showers.

On Wednesday morning, WMUR-TV agreed, calling for “light snow still possible” on Saturday afternoon. The bulk of the storm was expected to miss the state, it reported.

If anything changes, Patch will update.

For now, there is a slight chance of snow showers in Concord and the capital region between noon and 3 p.m. on Thursday, with highs in the mid-20s. No snow is expected in Nashua, Hillsborough County, inland Rockingham County, or the Seacoast on Thursday night. But the continued wind gusts — as high as 30 mph, will make it feel as if it is is below zero across the Granite State. Overnight lows will be in the teens.

It will be sunny on Friday with highs in the mid-30s and more wind, with gusts up to 25 mph. Overnight lows will be in the teens.

On Saturday, there is a chance of snow showers before 1 p.m., with temps in the lower 30s and overnight lows in the 20s.

It will be sunny on Sunday, with highs in the lower 30s and in the teens overnight.

Expect similar weather on Monday and Tuesday.
