Weekend Winter Storm Warning For New Hampshire: Heavy Snow, Ice, More

Alert: Southern, central NH could see 3 to 6 inches of snow and ice; up to 12 inches in the North Country, Lakes Region beginning on Friday.

GRAY, ME — Weather forecasters are warning of a potential strong winter storm for New Hampshire and New England this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a “hazardous weather outlook” warning Tuesday, saying a coastal storm could bring “potentially impactful” weather to the entire state. Specifically, freezing rain and snow, with the chance for strong winds on Friday and through the weekend.

“Rain will be more likely closer to the coast,” the alert, which was issued at 3:20 p.m., stated.

AccuWeather.com forecasters are calling for 6 to 12 inches in the North Country and Lakes Region. In comparison, 3 to 6 inches were expected in Concord and the capital region, as well as central and western Hillsborough County, and central and western Rockingham County communities. One to 3 inches of snow and rain were being predicted for the Seacoast.

If the storm shifts, it could bring more snow for a longer period of time.

"Not only does the storm have the potential to produce a heavy rate of snow, but in some locations from Pennsylvania to New England, snow could fall for more than 24 hours," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Courtney Travis said.

Forecasters at AccuWeather expect the storm to start in western New Hampshire around 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. in central New Hampshire and the Seacoast.
