Wet, Heavy April Fool’s Day Snow Causes Outages, Crashes in NH
Even though the storm is not over yet, thousands are without power in New Hampshire and as much as 12 inches has fallen, so far.

CONCORD, NH — With still a few hours to go before the last day of March/April Fool’s Day storm of 2017 ends, power is out to more than 5,000, mostly in central, southern, and western New Hampshire while more than 12 inches of snow has fallen in some parts of the state, according to National Weather Service watchers. Downed power lines and trees were also reported all around the state by firefighters, police, and electrical crews.

At 9 a.m. on April 1, 2017, the state emergency management team reported that since noon on Friday, 244 crashes and/or cars off the road had been reported but no injuries. Highways have reduced speeds but only one road – in Cornish – is currently closed. More than 5,400 are without power at this hour.

Eversource is reporting more than 2,400 customers without power scattered across the state including Hopkinton, Weare, Brentwood, Franklin, Candia, Dunbarton, Portsmouth, Allenstown, North Hampton, Hooksett, Webster, and Boscawen.

Unitil is reporting more than 1,100 without power mostly on the Seacoast including East Kingston, Exeter, Hampton, Hampton Falls, Kingston, Newton, Seabrook, and Stratham. The company is also reporting small outages in Concord, Bow, and Boscawen.

Liberty Utilities is reporting more than 300 without power, mostly with the company’s customers in the western part of the state.
Restoration times are varied.
The storm is still swirling around and is expected to do so until 4 p.m.
At around 5 a.m. on April 1, 2017, NWS posted snow spotter totals from the evening and early morning. Communities in Merrimack County – Concord, Bow, Henniker, and Tilton – reported between 10 and 12.5 inches of snow.
Here’s a short video of some of the snow in Concord.
In Hillsborough County, New Boston reported around 10 inches with Merrimack reported close to 8 inches.
In Rockingham County, 6 to 8 was being reported in North Hampton, Fremont, Greenland, and Stratham.
