Wheelabrator Makes Donation to Penacook Community Center

Wheelabrator Concord visited the Penacook Community Center on May 13, 2015, to deliver a $2,000 donation, renewing a 10-year partnership, according to a press statement.

The Penacook Community Center, which provides programs and affordable services to residents of Boscawen, Canterbury, Concord, Loudon, Penacook, Salisbury, and Webster, will use the $2,000 contribution to support the newly-launched “Strings Nurturing Wings” summer music program.

“Wheelabrator believes strongly in supporting our local community and serving as an engaged community partner including support for such programs and services as offered by the Penacook Community Center,” said John LaRiviere, general manager of Wheelabrator Concord. “We are especially thrilled that our gift will fund a new music education program for Concord area children.”

The “Strings Nurturing Wings” music program gives children at the community center in grades 3-6 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of playing the violin. With the support of a volunteer instructor, the program will offer lessons July 14th - August 20st. Wheelabrator’s contribution will cover the cost of renting the violins and other costs associated with the “Strings Nurturing Wings” music program.

“We are absolutely thrilled with Wheelabrator’s continued commitment to our community over the years by supporting all of the programs here at Penacook Community Center,” said Deb Cuddahy, executive director of the Penacook Community Center. “With Wheelabrator’s support, especially with our “Strings Nurturing Wings” music program, we are able to open doors for the children in our community to expand their musical knowledge, providing an opportunity that they may not necessarily receive elsewhere.”

Since 2005, Wheelabrator Concord has contributed more than $17,000 to the Penacook Community Center’s projects and initiatives.
