Woman Found Dead On I-89 In Hopkinton ID’d; Henniker Man Arrested: NH State Police

HOPKINTON, NH — After extensive investigative work, New Hampshire State Police have identified a woman found dead on Interstate 89 on Monday morning in Hopkinton.

Hopkinton fire and rescue teams and state police were sent to I-89 north near Mile Marker 7.2 around 12:15 a.m. for a report of a crash. When responders arrived, they found a woman dead in the breakdown lane of the highway but no vehicle or crash. State police requested assistance from the public trying to identify the woman as well as anyone who may have seen a vehicle in the area during the late evening Sunday and early morning Monday.

State police said Wednesday that the woman was Gina C. Maiorano, 27, of Henniker.

An autopsy found Maiorano died due to “blunt impact head injuries,” but the manner of death was inconclusive pending further investigation.

Also as part of the investigation, Thomas Shane Hanley, 30, also of Henniker was arrested Tuesday on felony conduct after an accident, stalking, and breach of bail charges.

“The parties involved in the incident have been identified, and based on the information known to investigators at this time, there is no known danger to the public,” Amber Lagace, the public information officer for state police, said. “New Hampshire State Police would like to extend their appreciation to the media, members of the public, and partner agencies and organizations that assisted with making the identification possible.”

State police are continuing to investigate the incident, Lagace said.
