July 13, 2024 — This Exeter Attorney David Mirsky reporting from the former Revolutionary Capital of the United States, Exeter, New Hampshire.

Today Exeter is celebrating our town's involvement in the Declaration of Independence. In Exeter, New Hampshire, we save our greatest patriotic celebration for mid-July, which is roughly the Anniversary of the arrival of the original US Declaration of Independence into Exeter. That occurred on July 16, 1776. But we are celebrating today, Saturday, July 13, 2024, because it is the weekend.

As you can tell by examining the fact of this holiday, here in New Hampshire we don't really care about what they do in Philadelphia. You must prove a thing is true by showing us.

So at 2 PM today, in front of the Exeter Revolutionary Museum in Exeter Center, you can see and hear distinguished town leader Greg Gilman reading the actual words of the Declaration of Independence, so you can revel in those words in all their patriotic glory.

Oh yes, wait a minute, I forgot something (alert the national press!!!). The point of this article is to list some local New Hampshire politicians currently under consideration (at least by me) to run on the GOP ticket with likely Republican Nominee Donald Trump as his potential Vice President. In other words, which prominent politician from New Hampshire, if any, is likely to be chosen, and to accept, the mantle vacated so absolutely by former US Vice President Mike Pence of Indiana, as the next person with a chance to attain the important role in our current US politics agreeing to be a target of mob violence should that person refuse Mr. Trump's expected order to violate their oath and duty to the Constitution and People of the United States?

So here's is my list:

1. NH Governor Chris Sununu. Wait a minute, no! I don't think he would accept that role. Perhaps a reporter from WMUR should ask him.

2. Kelly Ayotte, former New Hampshire US Senator and current candidate for Governor of New Hampshire. Judging from past conduct, she is probably yearning for this chance. But even if that is dangled in front of her, she should refuse to kiss the Donald's ring.

So that's my list for now. (As you can see, with the Republican National Convention so nearly at hand, you are only getting a short list.)

If I knew more about current GOP candidate for Governor of New Hampshire Chuck Morse, I might have included him on the list. But, honestly, I don't know him. From Salem, I think.

So that is all.

Don't miss Greg Gilman's speech today in Exeter at 2 PM. It is always a magnificent event.

Happy American Revolution, and Happy Declaration of Independence everybody!
