NHSP: NY Woman Clocked Doing 105 mph on I-95

Lourdwige Obas arrested for reckless conduct after being stopped in Hampton.

A woman from New York will be in court in June after allegedly driving at an extremely high rate of speed on I-95 this morning, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Lourdwige Obas, 27, of New York, was arrested on April 3, 2015, and charged with reckless conduct.

According to a press statement, New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was conducting traffic enforcement both on the ground and in the air.

At around 8:45 a.m., an aircraft observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on I-95 in Hampton Falls. The aircraft made contact with a trooper on the ground and he was sent to make intercept the vehicle. The trooper in the air reportedly clocked the vehicle a number of times with the highest reading coming in at 105 mph. The vehicle also was passing in both the right and left lanes, according to state police.

The trooper on the ground was able to catch up to the vehicle in Hampton and pulled it over. The driver, Obas, was arrested and charged with reckless operation. She’s due in court on June 8.

According to the statement, the NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire’s roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
