Salem Teen Accused Of Driving Into Pedestrian In Hampton

Police: Weiland Anderson was arrested Tuesday and accused of striking a pedestrian and fire hydrant with a motor vehicle on Lafayette Road.

HAMPTON, NH — A Salem teen is facing charges in Hampton after a motor vehicle crash on Lafayette Road Tuesday. Police were sent to road after a report of an accident at around 5:30 p.m. According to reports, a driver had struck a pedestrian with a motor vehicle.

"The victim in this case was transported from the scene and is believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries," according to Deputy Chief David Hobbs of the Hampton Police Department.

The driver, Weiland Anderson, 19, of Salem, was questioned and arrested. Police charged him with reckless operation, "for his unsafe operation of a motor vehicle," Hobbs added, and criminal mischief, due to damage to a fire hydrant.
