Today's riddle: I Am not animal, vegetable, or mineral. I don’t eat, but need to be fed regularly to stay alive. What am I? 🤔 (Answer below!)
Weather forecast:
1. Maine Trucker Arrested On Drug, DUI Charges After I-89 Crash: New Hampshire State Police Roundup (patch.com) — State police recently logged several incidents tied to Merrimack, including an arrest in town involving an alleged criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and another case listing a Merrimack resident charged after a Bedford stop. The broader roundup also details DUI, speeding, and drug-related arrests across New Hampshire highways that may affect local drivers’ awareness of enforcement activity.
2. Anthony placed on 10-day IL; NH's Gasper called up (unionleader.com) — A Merrimack, N.H. native is back in the big leagues, as infielder Mickey Gasper has been called up to the Red Sox from Triple-A Worcester. He’ll fill in while outfielder Roman Anthony spends at least a week on the injured list with a sprained right hand, an injury the team expects he’ll recover from relatively quickly.
3. $12M in OT for Department of Corrections Approved By Council (indepthnh.org) — State officials recently confirmed that federal interest in building an ICE detention facility in Merrimack has been dropped, after an Attorney General’s report on how related public-records requests were handled. That update came during a wide-ranging Executive Council meeting that also approved millions for prison overtime, advanced broadband expansion, funded housing projects, and reviewed other statewide appointments and contracts.
4. NH lawmakers reject plea from Ayotte, delay action on children's mental health coverage bill (wmur.com) — A Merrimack state representative is among those urging quick action on a children’s mental health insurance bill that Gov. Kelly Ayotte supports, but a House committee has delayed. Lawmakers say they want more study, while advocates warn that waiting until fall could worsen access problems for New Hampshire families seeking coverage for needed services.
5. Rep. Corcoran Censure Vote Heading to House Over Anti-Semitic Comments (indepthnh.org) — Merrimack residents may want to know that their state Rep. Jeanine Notter spoke emotionally about her father’s role in liberating Dachau as lawmakers advanced a censure of Rep. Travis Corcoran over anti-Semitic and racist tweets. A House committee voted 10–2 to recommend censure, sending the issue to the full House for a public debate and vote, though any censure would be symbolic without formal sanctions.
