📰 News we're reading

• Local high schools represent NH at FIRST Robotics championship (unionleader.com) — Merrimack’s Chop Shop robotics team, founded at Merrimack High School in 1995, reached the division finals at the FIRST Robotics world championship in Houston and were named championship division finalists. They joined 10 other New Hampshire teams, including a division-winning Salem squad, in showcasing student-built robots that shot foam balls into towering goals during four days of intense competition.

• The week ahead: Final countdown for House, Senate to act on each other's bills (unionleader.com) — Merrimack residents are represented at center stage this week as Rep. Julie Miles, R-Merrimack, helps lead a last-minute push to reshape a children’s mental health coverage bill at the State House. Lawmakers also face decisions on campus carry, higher tolls for out-of-state drivers, foster kids’ benefits, SNAP administration, abortion-related conscience protections, and proposed constitutional amendments on income tax and school property tax caps. These votes could affect family budgets, highways, and school funding across New Hampshire.
