Family Argument Leads to Damage to Lawn: Report

Merrimack Police arrested Eric Thibeault for criminal threatening, criminal mischief, and domestic violence last month.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local man is due in court later this month on a number of charges including allegedly driving his pickup truck onto a family member's yard and damaging their lawn, according to police. Eric Thibeault, 36, of Greenleaf Street in Merrimack, was arrested on Aug. 22, 2016, and charged with domestic violence, criminal mischief, and criminal threatening.

According to police, at just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 21, officers were sent to Pleasant Street for a report of a pickup truck damaging a lawn. When they arrived, the truck was gone, but officers spoke with the homeowner about the case.

“It was discovered that during a family get together at another location earlier in the day an argument occurred between the defendant, Thibeault and this complainant,” according to Sgt. Cassell of the Merrimack Police Department. “During this argument the complainant was assaulted. A short time after the complainant returned home he heard some noises outside and upon investigating he saw Thibeault driving his pick-up truck on his lawn spinning the tires and damaging his lawn.”

Police gathered evidence from the scene and then, applied for an arrest warrant. Thibeault turned himself in to police the next day. He was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on Sept. 28.

According to online reports, including stories on Merrimack Patch, Thibeault is no stranger to police. In November 2014, he was stopped for reportedly speeding and arrested for not having an alcohol ignition interlock circumvention device on his vehicle. The next week, he was arrested for assault and breach of bail charges. According to the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, Thibeault was arrested for disorderly conduct in August 2015 in Derry. He was also arrested in Litchfield in 2014, according to the Nashua Telegraph. Thibeault was also arrested on a warrant issued by the Hudson Police Department in February 2010, according to the Merrimack Journal.
