Fugitive Caught After NH Traffic Stop

Police: Joseph Stapf was wanted on gun, intimidation, burglary, and other charges in Massachusetts.

A local man was arrested earlier this week for being a fugitive from justice after a traffic stop in Manchester, according to police.

Joseph Stapf, 24, of Litchfield, was arrested on Nov. 2, 2015, on fugitive warrants for ammunition without an FID card, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, both felonies, intimidation of a witness, two counts of breaking and entering a building in the daytime, receiving a stolen credit card, two counts of receiving stolen property, both felonies, and possession of burglarious instruments.

According to police, an officer on Clinton Street west of South Main at around 8:30 p.m. noticed that the inspection sticker and registration numbers on the vehicle didn’t match, so he pulled it over.

The driver, Stapf, according to dispatch, was a fugitive from justice out of Marblehead, MA, on numerous counts, when he allegedly failed to show up in Lynn District Court on Oct. 2, 2015. The officer requested another check on the fugitive warrant and then, Stapf was arrested.

Stapf was released on $1,000 cash bail and is due in Manchester District Court on Nov. 6, for an extradition hearing.

Stapf, according to Marblehead MA Patch, was arrested in September after allegedly being involved in a burglary on Beacon Street.
