Man Charged With 2010 Merrimack Burglary

Adam Smart, wanted by several New Hampshire law enforcement agencies for burglary, robbery and more, was arrested in Florida in April.

A New Hampshire man wanted for a March 25 armed robbery in the Concord, a 2010 burglary in Merrimack and a slew of other crimes was recently extradicted from Florida and arraigned this morning in Merrimack's district court for the burglary he allegedly committed in town almost two years ago.

Adam Smart, 28, whose last known address was 137 Pembroke St., Pembroke, was charged in an Aug. 12, 2010 burglary of a home on Baboosic Lake Road.

According to a press release from Merrimack Police, fingerprint evidence was collected at the time, but no match was found. The evidence was submitted to the State Police Crime Lab where it was analyzed and subsequently, identifying information was discovered, identifying the Merrimack suspect as Smart.

Further information indicated Smart was involved in other burglaries in New Hampshire in the same time frame and a warrant was issued.

On March 25, on Garvin Falls Road and indicated Smart as the suspect. He allegedly fled the area following the robbery and was described as dangerous.

Concord Police issued arrest warrants for armed robbery and conspiracy. In addition to being wanted in Concord and Merrimack, police told Concord Patch he was sought by the Belknap County and Rockingham County sheriff’s offices for burglary-related charges.

According to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune Smart was allegedly involved in burglaries in Derry and Londonderry during the summer of 2010.

Smart was arrested by the U.S. Marshall’s Service on April 10, in Florida, according to Lt. Timothy O’Malley of the . According to florida.arrests.org, Smart was arrested on Old Crystal River Road in Hernando, Fla.

He was extradicted to New Hampshire, held on $200,000 cash bail and arraigned on April 26.

“The Marshall’s service was instrumental in getting him,” “We were getting tips all along, through the [Concord Regional] Crimeline, and if we got anything of value, we passed it along to them.”

Following his court appearance Wednesday morning, Smart was held on $10,000 cash bail and tranported to Rockingham County House of Correction. He is scheduled for a probable cause hearing in Merrimack on June 25.
