Chief: Two Arrested on Drug Charges

Andrew Lavoie of Amherst was charged with dealing heroin; Elisheva Galan of Milford faces possession charge.

Amherst Police arrested two people recently after a month long investigation into drug trafficking in Amherst, according to a press statement.

Andrew Lavoie, 28, of Amherst, was arrested recently on sale of controlled drug – heroin and possession of controlled drug. Also arrested was Elisheva Galan, 32, of Milford, for possession of controlled drug and a bench warrant.

According to Chief Mark Reams of the Amherst Police Department, members of the department and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant at 5 Willow Lane in Amherst on Oct. 1, 2015.

“Street level amounts of heroin and prescription drugs were seized pursuant to the search warrant,” according to Reams. “Two arrests were made in the course of the seizure.”

The task force was created to combat drug and property related crimes, which affect the quality of life in Hillsborough County. The task force is comprised of members of local law enforcement agencies in the county and the sheriff’s office.
