2 Fatal Crashes, 53 DUIs, 41 Smartphone Citations Over Thanksgiving in NH
State Police reported statistics from their enforcement efforts over the Thanksgiving holiday.

New Hampshire State Police said there were two fatal crashes, 53 drunk driving arrests, and 41 citations for using an electronic device on the state’s highways this Thanksgiving.
“Despite that, we want to thank all those who travelled safely and courteously,” State Police Director Robert Quinn said in a statement.
State Police stepped up enforcement efforts due to the increased number of drivers on the roads for the holiday. They made 4,316 traffic stops, issuing 906 citations, 3,267 warnings, and 91 arrests.

Forty-one drivers were cited for the new law that prohibits them from using mobile devices while driving. The law went into effect July 1.
The fatal crashes included a tractor crash that killed an elderly man in Tamworth on Friday and a car crash that killed a driver in Jefferson on Sunday.

“The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce traffic collisions during the holiday season,” Quinn said in a statement.
