Bay State Man Arrested On Forgery Charges

NASHUA, NH — A Massachusetts man was arrested on five felony counts last weekend after being granted an arrest warrant against him nearly a year ago. Kenneth Gallant, 41, of 8 Arch Avenue in Haverhill, MA, was arrested on May 18, 2019, and charged with two counts of theft by deception and three counts of forgery, all felonies. During a forged check investigation in July 2018, police heard from a number of financial institutions in Nashua about bad checks passed the month before.

Gallant was identified as a suspect in the case, according to police. Detectives accused him of obtaining more than $5,000 in cash during fraudulent transactions with the financial institutions. They applied for and were granted a warrant in July 2018.

On Saturday, Gallant was arrested by the Salem Police Department after a disturbance in a local coffee shop, according to the Nashua Telegraph. He was then turned over to Nashua police. Gallant was unable to raise bail, was held, and arraigned in the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South. He faces up to 51 years in prison and fines.
