Chelmsford Contractor Indicted In New Hampshire Court On Charges
Attorney General: Robert Lowry is accused of theft and misapplication of $37,000 for construction projects in Hudson he never performed.

CONCORD, NH — A Massachusetts contractor has been indicted in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on theft and misapplication charges, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. In 2018, Robert J. Lowry, 53, of Lowry Construction of Chelmsford, MA, is accused of obtaining more than $37,000 from two individuals in New Hampshire to work on building projects and then, not performing the work. He is accused of using the cash to pay off or distribute it to a third person, according to the indictment.
"The indictment alleges that between April 28 and Sept. 30, 2018, Mr. Lowry obtained or exercised unauthorized control over money belonging to (two people), with a purpose to deprive them thereof, and the value of the money account exceeded $1,500," said Kate Spiner, the director of communications for the attorney general's office. "The indictment alleges … Lowry obtained money belonging to (the individuals) in order to purchase materials for two construction projects, and recklessly failed to purchase the materials and dealt with the money as his own."
Both of the construction projects were located in Hudson. A grand jury indicted Lowry on the two felony charges in December. The charges, both Class A felonies, carry with them 7.5- to 15-year sentences and $8,000 in fines.
