Democrats Attack Avard with DUI Mailer
The New Hampshire Democratic Party claims he was arrested in Franklin in 2005.

The state Democratic Party has blanketed the District 12 state Senate district, which includes parts of Nashua, with another negative mailer against former Republican state Rep. Kevin Avard, reportedly claiming that he was arrested for driving under the influence.
The mailer shows Avard’s mugshot from the Franklin Police Department, reportedly from 2005.
If true, this is the second time in as many weeks that Avard’s potential criminal history has been revealed to the public. According WMUR-TV, he was arrested for violating a protection order in the late 1990s.

Avard did not return email request for comment about the mailer. He also had not acknowledged the validity of the mailers on any of his four Facebook accounts, his Twitter account, or campaign website. A Google search also yielded no information about the arrest online.
The NHDP also attacked Avard for a bankruptcy filing in a separate mailer last month. The party is currently being investigated by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office for a racy mailer it sent out to the District 18 state Senate district that quoted from a potentially libelous blog post on Concord NH Patch in July.
