Man Arrested On Assault-Deadly Weapon Charge After Homeless Camp Incident In Nashua

NASHUA, NH — A man was accused of assaulting another man at a Nashua homeless camp and breaking several of his bones on Aug. 10, according to police.
Officers were sent to the encampment near Pine Street Extension for a report of an assault involving a weapon. The victim, a man in his mid-50s, suffered multiple injuries, including several broken bones, Sgt. John Cinelli, the public information officer and communications supervisor for the Nashua Police Department, said.
“The victim,” he said, “was transported to a local hospital where he underwent medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.”

Detectives worked on the case and interviewed the victim, who accused Eric Baker, 41, of no fixed address in Nashua, of beating him. Other witnesses also fingered him as the suspect involved in the crime. Cinelli said detectives also obtained video surveillance footage identifying Baker as the suspect.
A warrant for felony second-degree assault-deadly weapon was issued against Baker and he was arrested on Aug. 16.

“When Baker was located by officers,” Cinelli said, “he ran from them attempting to avoid being arrested, Baker was additionally charged with resisting arrest.”
Baker was charged and held on $500 cash bail. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
According to superior court records, Baker was accused of two drug possession charges in Nashua in September 2005. He pleaded guilty to one charge a year later. In July 2014, Baker was accused of second-degree assault in Hudson. He pleaded guilty to the charge a few days before Christmas in 2015 and received a fine.
