Two Nabbed in Search of Copper
Police suspect the two broke into an abandoned factory to steal copper.
Jason Marrotte, 22, of 7 Mason Street, Nashua, and Michael Benoit, 22, of 29 Temple Street, Nashua were arrested March 20, each charged with one count of Burglary, Class B Felony and Resisting Arrest, Class A Misdemeanor. Marrotte was also charged with Possession of Burglary Tools, a Class A Misdemeanor.
At approximately 8:46 p.m. an anonymous caller contacted the Nashua Police Department’s Crime Line to report subjects inside a vacant downtown building in the area of Franklin Street. Uniformed Patrol Officers responded and conducted a search inside the building, where they located Benoit and Marrotte hiding. The subjects were ordered out and after a brief struggle, they were placed under arrest. As a result of the struggle, both subjects were also charged with Resisting Arrest.
After being placed under arrest, Marrotte was found to be in possession of burglary tools. The investigation was furthered by Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division Burglary Unit. Investigators determined both Marrotte and Benoit entered the building with the intent to steal copper.

A Class B Felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. A Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to 1 year in county jail, exclusive of fines. Marrotte is being held on $2,500 cash/surety bail. Benoit is being held on $1,500 cash/surety bail, both pending arraignment at Nashua District Court.
