Nashua Child Sexual Assaulter, Convicted 8 Times On Various Sex Offender Charges, Arrested Again

NASHUA, NH — A man from Nashua, with dozens of prior arrests and convictions, is facing new felony charges after being accused of failing to register with police.

Timothy O’Mara, 60, of Nashua, was arrested on July 13, on duty to report-subsequent and two duty to inform-subsequent charges, all felonies. According to police, on April 22, police found him staying in a local apartment building after being released on bail from the Valley Street Jail two days before. However, a check found O’Mara “failed to properly update his information, according to his sex offender registration requirements,” Sgt. John Cinelli, the public information officer and communications division Supervisor of the Nashua Police Department, said. Detectives were assigned to investigate the case, he added.

“Based on the investigation, O’Mara failed to make a change to his residence,” Cinelli said. “O’Mara also failed to complete his annual registration.”

A warrant was issued for his arrest. O’Mara was held without bail and arraigned on July 14.

O’Mara is a sex offender due to a felonious sexual assault conviction on a child under 16, but other than 13, with an age difference of more than three years in Essex County, Massachusetts, Superior Court in June 1994, according to the state of New Hampshire.

According to the state of New Hampshire, O’Mara has been arrested on eight different registration charges between 2005 and 2022. Records show he has been arrested dozens of times. Superior court records show O’Mara being convicted on a driving after revocation or suspension charge in May 1991 and a driving under the influence charge in April 1992.

O’Mara has also been convicted on drug possession, disorderly conduct, theft, simple assault, shoplifting, violation of the terms of probation or parole, assault by prisoners, criminal trespass, and receiving stolen property, according to the state of New Hampshire. His first conviction was on a drug charge in the late 1980s, according to the state.
