Nashua Man Assaults Another Man With A Knife: Police

Police accuse Joshua Fournier-De Jesus, a homeless man now located in Nashua, of also punching and kicking a victim on Main Street.

NASHUA, NH — A local man was arrested on Friday morning on assault charges after police accused him of injuring another man physically and with a knife. Joshua Fournier-De Jesus, 31, of no fixed address, was arrested at 1:36 a.m. on May 10, 2019, and charged with felony first-degree assault and two counts of simple assault. According to police, at around 12:45 a.m. officers were called to the area of Main and West Hollis streets for a report of a knife attack.

“After an initial investigation, Fournier-De Jesus was identified as the suspect and was subsequently placed under arrest,” according to Lt. Daniel Mederos of the Nashua Police Department. “Fournier-De Jesus is charged with punching, kicking and striking a male victim with a knife during the incident.”

The victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital, he noted.

Fournier-De Jesus was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South.

Mederos noted that Fournier-De Jesus faces up to 15 years in prison and fines if convicted on the first-degree assault charge.

Previously, according to reports online, Fournier-De Jesus was arrested on OUI and other charges in Tewksbury, MA, in October 2011. He was also picked up on an electronic bench warrant for nonpayment of attorney fees in January 2018, in Nashua. Fournier-De Jesus was arrested and charged with three counts of simple assault last month in Nashua, according to police.
