DURHAM, NH — Nashua North High School defeated Oyster River High School, 355 to 120, on the latest episode of Granite State Challenge.

For Oyster River, 12th grader Benjamin Boodey served as captain. The roster also included 11th grader Lydia Bens and 12th graders Griffin Oakes-Libow and Rayan Barakat. Alternates were 9th grader Peter Fenton and 12th graders Carson Imperio and Felix Scarlat. English teacher John Monahan coached the Bobcats. “They were very fast on the Nashua's North side,” Monahan said. “We just didn't have the chance to answer the questions.”

Bosch said his team also worked on strategy by studying earlier episodes.

“We've done lots of, lots of watching past games,” he said. “The team has done that on their own over time, and they're aware of some of the intricacies of how things have happened.”

The next two rounds were closer. In Three Strikes and You’re Out, Nashua North answered three of 10 questions correctly, while Oyster River answered two. In the 60-second round, Oyster River got six of 10 right and Nashua North answered five of 10 correctly.

“I felt like we didn’t leave anything on the table there,” Boodey said.

Scribner said the Nashua North team improved after last season’s appearance.

“I'm very, very happy with our performance,” he said. “Last year we went on the show for the first time in our wild card round, and it didn't turn out the way we liked.”

He also said, “We've actually all been in school together since elementary school, growing up together— and we're all seniors as well. To be able to do this with them is just incredible.”

New Hampshire PBS said the next game of Granite State Challenge will air at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 on NHPBS.
