New Jersey Man Arrested On ID Fraud, Forgery, And Theft Charges

Nashua police: Andrew Mason was arrested first for identity fraud and then later, on forgery and theft. He was held and arraigned Monday.

NASHUA, NH — A New Jersey man was arrested on Sunday and held on cash bail after being charged with identity fraud, forgery, and theft. At around 5:30 p.m. on June 16, 2019, officers were sent to the Verizon store on Amherst Street for a report of a fraud in progress. When they arrived, they contacted the suspect – Andrew Mason, 54, of New Jersey – and spoke with him about the incident in the store.

After an initial investigation, Mason was arrested and charged with identity fraud, a felony.

Detectives continued to work the case and accused Mason of also attempting to obtain fraudulent services valued at between $1,000 and $1,500, while allegedly posing as another person. Police then charged him with felony forgery, misdemeanor forgery, and felony attempted theft by deception.

Mason was processed and held on $5,000 cash bail. He was arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on Monday. If convicted, he faces up to 46 years in prison plus fines.
