NH Man At Homeless Camp Charged With Threatening Nashua Police
Nashua Police said David Merritt, 44, threatened officers with a knife when they attempted to detain him for a mental health evaluation.

NASHUA, NH — A man at a homeless camp along the Merrimack River was charged with criminal threatening on Thursday after Nashua Police said he threatened officers with a knife. Nashua Police said they were seeking to detain David Merritt, 44, for a mental health evaluation when he refused to obey the order, brandished the knife and ran into a tent.
Nashua Police said a standoff ensued before Merritt was taken into custody.
The incident occurred at an encampment in a wooded area near the Pheasant Lane Mall about 4:30 Thursday afternoon. Merritt was charged with Class B felony criminal threatening and Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest or detention.

Merritt refused bail and was held at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections ahead of his arraignment at the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South.
