Pair Of New Hampshire Corrections Department Fugitives Now In Custody
James Edward Smith was arrested in South Carolina Tuesday, while Nashua police arrested Timothy Hickman on Aug. 29.
CONCORD, NH — Two New Hampshire Department of Corrections fugitives are now in custody, according to investigators.
James Edward Smith, 37, who was featured in August and had active warrants in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, was arrested on Tuesday in South Carolina. He was wanted on a parole violation after being convicted of second-degree assault.
Corrections investigators received “multiple tips” after he was featured and coordinated with the U.S. Marshals Service to “pursue leads,” according to a statement. As part of the investigation, Smith was reportedly found in a home in the state and exited willingly after police requested he exit the residence. Smith also has active charges in South Carolina, a report said.
