Tragedy in Bedford: Mother Shoots 2 Daughters, Turns Gun on Herself, Authorities Say

Nina Obukhov, 34, killed her two daughters Katherine, 8, and Elizabeth, 6, on Saturday, authorities said.

Authorities said a mother shot her two young daughters then turned the gun on herself, leaving a horrific scene in a quiet Bedford neighborhood.

The mother was identified as Nina Obukhov, 34. Her daughters were Katherine, 8, and Elizabeth, 6, according to the state Attorney General’s office. The tragedy unfolded at their 17 McAfee Farm Rd. home.

The woman’s husband, Alexey, was originally sought by police as a possible person of interest in the case but authorities later released a statement saying they believe the shootings were carried out by his wife.

In 2013, Alexey was arrested for domestic violence against his wife but the charges were dismissed when she refused to testify. In October 2013, Obukov applied for a conceal carry permit that was later denied by the Bedford Chief of Police. He sued and the New Hampshire Supreme Court reversed the decision in November 2014.
