Climate Change Art Exhibition Opens in Portsmouth on Oct. 21

The collaboration between the UNH Department of Art and Art History, NextGen Climate NH, 3S Artspace features original student artwork.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — On Oct. 21, 2016, Rise: Climate Change in our World will open with a reception at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth. The art exhibition will feature original artwork by current students, alumni, technical staff, and faculty that reflects the effects of climate change, according to a press statement.

“This unprecedented undertaking by the Art Department, in collaboration with NextGen Climate NH and 3S Artspace, addresses an important issue at a critical time," said Craig Hood, Chair of the UNH Department of Art and Art History. "We are excited to unveil the works, and hope this sort of collaboration with the greater community will become a more regular occurrence for our program in the future."

The opening reception for Rise: Climate Change in Our World, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2016, at 3S Artspace, 319 Vaughan St. in Portsmouth.

“The artwork in this exhibition beautifully reflects the passion of the students to rise to the greatest challenge facing the millennial generation and address climate change," said NextGen Climate NH Press Secretary Kate Corriveau. “This is just one more way we are approaching a conversation that resonates with students and motivating them to make their voices heard in November.”
