Extraordinary Cinema: 'Iris' Shown Next Week

Extraordinary Cinema: “Iris.” On Friday, June 26, The Music Hall Loft will celebrate the late and legendary filmmaker, Albert Maysles by offering a special screening of his last film Iris, which debuted this year at the Paris Theatre and features 93-year-old NYC fashion icon, Iris Apfel, according to a press statement.

Ticket holders are invited to join a panel of special guests following the film for stories about Maysles and Q&A. Guests include; Maysles’ daughter NYC artist Rebekah Maysles and local advertising creative and filmmaker, Sean Tracey, who was a protégé and friend of Maysles.

About the Film

Iris pairs legendary eighty seven year-old documentarian Albert Maysles with Iris Apfel, the quick-witted, flamboyantly dressed ninety three year-old style maven who has had an outsized presence on the New York fashion scene for decades. More than a fashion film, the documentary is a story about creativity and how, even in Iris’ dotage, a soaring free spirit continues to inspire.
