'Get Cozy' Chamber Music Performed March 11

Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet to perform in lieu of 7 Rivers Wind Quintet at The Dance Hall.

From Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra:Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s Get Cozy with the PSO’s chamber music series continues Sunday, March 11 at 3:00pm with the PSO Brass Quintet performing a celebration of composer Leonard Bernstein at The Dance Hall in Kittery, ME. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. This program replaces the previously advertised Get Cozy with the PSO Latin American Dance Music performance.

The PSO Brass Quintet will play an uplifting and audience-pleasing concert of Gabrieli, Bach, and Bernstein. The PSO Brass Quintet was founded by Adam Gallant in the fall of 2016 and is comprised of key brass players from the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra. The quintet is dedicated to performing serious brass chamber music at the highest level.

As part of the two-year Leonard Bernstein centennial celebration, this concert will honor and play selections from the all important Leonard Bernstein “playbook.” The PSO Brass Quintet will pay tribute to this musical genius through selections from his famous West Side Story, and less famous, but equally charming brass music. The remainder of the program will feature original brass music spanning from the Renaissance to the twentieth century.
