Lucius Comes Back to New Hampshire

Groundbreaking indie popsters headline Intimately Yours show at The Music Hall. Ani DiFranco also booked for September.

The Music Hall Announces Two New Intimately Yours Shows: Ani DiFranco and Lucius

The Music Hall announced two additional shows to their new 2015-2016 season. Ani DiFranco, who will be making her return to The Music Hall on Friday, Sept. 11 and the indie-pop breakout group Lucius, making their Portsmouth debut on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Ani DiFranco: As a singer, songwriter, activist, and independent entrepreneur, Ani DiFranco has been setting her own pace—and encouraging countless admirers to do the same—for more than 20 years. While many know her as the “Little Folksinger,” her music has grown far beyond her acoustic solo roots in cozy venues to embrace jazz, soul, electronica, and even more distant sounds. These influences are featured in DiFranco’s new Righteous Babe release, Allergic To Water, where she also blends abstract imagery and deceptively understated melodies with personal reflections on her life in New Orleans.

Lucius: Lucius is a triple-threat of vocal harmonies, infectious hooks, and dance-inducing percussion. Pair those traits with the band’s irresistible live show and it’s easy to see why NPR Music calls Lucius “a fabulous band playing such infectious pop songs” and Paste hails the group as “blissful.” Charismatic co-founders and lead vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig sing in unison – two voices as one – uniquely delivering songs with stories told from the same perspective. Multi-instrumentalists Andrew Burri, Peter Lalish, and Dan Molad round out the stylish, Brooklyn-based quintet.
