Man Convicted of Raping, Strangling, UNH Teen Appeals Case

WESTBOROUGH, MA -- The man convicted of strangling to death a Westborough college student in New Hampshire in 2012 is appealing his conviction.

Lawyers for Seth Mazzaglia, who was sentenced to life without parole for raping and killing UNH student and Westborough native Elizabeth ”Lizzi” Marriott, 19, appealed his conviction to the state Supreme Court, reports WCVB-TV.

Mazzaglia, from Dover, was convicted of first degree murder in 2014.

The horrifying murder was featured on CBS-TV series “48 Hours. The show detailed the murder in which Mazzaglia and his girlfriend, Kathryn McDonough, lured Marriott to their apartment and raped and strangled her. They then stuffed her in a suitcase and threw it off a cliff on Pierce Island in Portsmouth.

The arguments for Mazzaglia’s appeal were not made public.
