Portsmouth's Market Square Day is June 13

It’s one of the biggest and best days of the year! For over thirty-five years, Market Square Day has widely been regarded as ‘the beginning of the summer on the seacoast’. It is an exciting day in Portsmouth, and will be taking place on June 13th…which is this Saturday people!

Many of you may be familiar with the event, however some of you may not know the reason behind it. The day was created simply enough to celebrate the renovation and beautification of downtown Portsmouth – and, in particular, Market Square. The festival is a tremendous way to come and support Portsmouth, and all its greatness.

During the day around eighty-thousand people will walk through downtown as they enjoy the locally produced sights and smells. According to ProPortsmouth.org, over one hundred vendors will be accepted for inclusion in the festival. There will be two performing stages which will feature local and regional musicians. One of the biggest events of the day is the Market Square Day 10K Road Race, which takes place at 9:00am.

Not to fear citizen, here are some parking tips per PortsmouthNH.com:

Pro Portsmouth will be offering a free shuttle service between The Mall at Fox Run and the High/Hanover Parking Garage from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A shuttle will pick up passengers across from JC Penney’s and Lens Crafters.

The City’s free shuttle service will also begin operations at noon that day. That shuttle runs between the Connect Community Church (CCC) parking lot on Market Street and the High/Hanover parking garage. The City’s shuttle bus will not stop at The Mall at Fox Run. Likewise, the Pro Portsmouth shuttle will not stop at the CCC lot.
