The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating an “untimely death” that investigators believe may be an opiate overdose.
At around 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2015, after Portsmouth Fire and Rescue teams were called to a home on Islington Street for a report of an unresponsive female. The woman, Shanna Hogan, 35, of Portsmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Detective Sergeant John Peracchi of the Portsmouth Police Department stated in a press release that the state’s medical examiner’s office is listing the cause of death as “pending,” until toxicology reports are completed. However, the department is “pursuing the death investigation as a result of a possible opiate related overdose,” due to previous interactions with her, including arrests and a situation last year where she crashed her car and was arrested later on heroin possession, according to Seacoast online.
