Bow Man Arrested On Armed Robbery Charges In Salem

SALEM, NH — A capital region man was arrested Wednesday on armed robbery charges after three police departments assisted Salem police with its investigations and help in identifying a suspect. Armed robberies were reported in Salem on Dec. 7, 2019, at Pearl's Candy and Nuts on South Broadway and at Klemm's Mobil gas station on Pleasant Street on Dec. 9. At Pearl's, a knife was brandished during the robbery, according to Joel Dolan, the deputy chief of the Salem Police Department. At Klemm's, a handgun was flashed.

In both incidents, the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Dolan stated, and the store employees were not harmed during the incidents.

On Dec. 12, Matthew Roz, 41, of Bow, was arrested by the Methuen Mass. Police Department and held in the Middleton Jail on a fugitive from charge. At this point in the investigation, Dolan said, Concord police got involved and were able to help investigators identify Roz as a suspect in the two robberies. Haverhill police also assisted, Dolan said, and Roz was charged on Jan. 15, 2020, on two felony counts of armed robbery.

Roz was held overnight in the Rockingham County Jail and arraigned Thursday in Rockingham County Superior Court.
