Manchester Man Arrested After Chase Through Salem

New Hampshire State Police arrest Tommy Rogers after crash in Massachusetts.

A Manchester man is in custody today after a race through Salem and into Massachusetts that ended up in a car crash that totaled a Honda Accord.

Tommy R. Rogers, 29, of Manchester, was arrested at around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, and charged with fugitive from justice and felony level receiving stolen property.

According to a state police report, a trooper attempted to stop a blue Honda Accord that had been reported as stolen from Manchester. The vehicle, a 1994 version, had a Massachusetts registration, and was heading south on I-93 in Salem.

The Honda crossed into Massachusetts and pulled over into the breakdown lane “for a brief moment” and then took off, according to police.

The trooper continued pursuit on I-93, and then east on Route 213, onto Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen, where the vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Oak Street and split in half.

The driver, later identified as Rogers, as well as a female passenger, allegedly fled on foot.

Methuen Police as well as Massachusetts State troopers arrived to assist and Rogers was later captured at a nearby McDonald’s Restaurant and charged. The woman was released from the scene without charges. Neither was injured in the crash.

Rogers was arraigned in the Lawrence Massachusetts District Court on Sept. 3.
