Mass. Man Charged with Negligent Homicide
Michael Gomez was arrested by Salem Police for allegedly killing Phillip Carter during an accident on Route 28.

A Massachusetts man has been arrested on charges after a fatal accident on Route 28 earlier this week.
Michael Gomez, 26, of Lowell, MA, was arrested on June 19, 2015, and charged with negligent homicide and being a fugitive from justice.

According to a report, at around 10:30 a.m., detectives, with the help of Lowell Police, arrested Gomez at his home.
Gomez, according to police, allegedly drove his Honda Civic into a Honda Civic owned by Phillip Carter of Salem, as it was exiting out of the Salem Ford dealership on Route 28. Carter perished in the crash; Gomez was treated for injuries.

“Gomez was later arraigned at Lowell District Court, where he waived extradition,” according to a press statement by Lt. Michael Kelly. “Gomez was subsequently taken into custody by Salem detectives and formally booked at SPD Headquarters on the negligent homicide charge.”
Gomez was held with no bail pending an arraignment at Salem District Court on Monday, June 22.
