Salem Police Arrest 3 Men On Driving Under The Influence Charges In 1 Day: Police Log

Plus: Lawrence woman arrested on domestic violence charge; Peabody, MA, man arrested on drug charges; Bedford, MA, man charged after crash.

SALEM, NH — Shawn Eric Johansen, 42, of South Dyers Cove Road in Harpswell, Maine, was arrested at 11:57 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2025, on driving under the influence and conduct after an accident charges. Police were sent to South Broadway and Veterans Memorial Parkway for a motor vehicle complaint. An off-duty officer reported a truck drove over the island on Veterans and took down a road sign, according to a report. The vehicle was last seen on Route 28 driving at a high rate of speed, police said. A report said the truck matched the description of one seen on cameras near Circle K on North Broadway. Officers checked the area and later, found the vehicle behind Maddie’s, a report stated. The sign was moved out of the roadway.

Derek M. Carbone, 25, of Matthew Drive in Salem, was arrested at 10:57 p.m. on Feb. 26 on DUI, DUI-second offense, breach of bail, and resisting arrest or detention charges, as well as an open container violation. Police stopped a vehicle at the Taco Bell on South Broadway. One man was arrested and transported to the Rockingham County Jail.

Christopher Vega, 23, of Hampshire Street in Salem, was arrested at 9:12 p.m. on Feb. 26 on aggravated DUI-0.16-plus, DUI, negligent driving, and DUI-adult more than 0.08; minor more than 0.02 charges. Police were sent to Hampshire Street for a report of a car crashing into a pole with wires down. Police blocked the road at Sand Hill Road and notified Liberty Utilities. After a field sobriety test, the driver was arrested.

Yaniris Peralta-Severino, 34, of Thorndike Street of Lawrence, Massachusetts, received a summons at 8:41 p.m. on Feb. 26 on a driving after revocation or suspension charge after a motor vehicle stop at South Broadway.

Rafael Casiano, 47, of Russell Street in Peabody, MA, was arrested at 7:31 p.m. on Feb. 26 on two felony possession of controlled drug charges. He was arrested after a motor vehicle stop at Main Street and South Broadway. Casiano was released on personal recognizance and given a courtesy ride to the Red Roof Inn.

John H. Theuer, 50, of Loomis Street in Bedford, MA, was arrested at 3:12 p.m. on Feb. 26 on a conduct after accident charge. He was arrested on a warrant and released on personal recognizance.

Keegan S. Hannagan, 34, of Currier Road in Hill, was arrested at 10:59 a.m. on Feb. 26 on transport drugs in a motor vehicle and two felony possession of controlled drug charges. He was arrested on a Salem warrant in Franklin and released on personal recognizance.

Sheila Anne Gilman, 49, of Fair Street in Gloucester, MA, was arrested at 2:01 p.m. on Feb. 19 on a warrant out of Swanzey. She was released on personal recognizance.

Ashley Marie Urquiza, 23, of Salem Street in Lawrence, MA, was arrested at 1:32 p.m. on Feb. 19 on a domestic violence-simple assault charge. Police were sent to Oakridge Avenue for a domestic incident. A caller reported a lot of yelling coming from the building. A second caller reported two women “screaming at each other,” according to police, “possibly an assault taking place followed by a loud scream.” She was arrested and released on personal recognizance.

Christopher McGowan, 44, of Lexington Avenue in Methuen, MA, was arrested on a warrant from an outside agency and a bench warrant at 4:44 p.m. on Feb. 1 as well as willful concealment and driving after revocation or suspension. Police were sent to Walmart on North Broadway for a report of a theft. Loss prevention said a man and a woman were walking to the parking lot after the incident. The pair left in a gray vehicle and drove north on Route 28. The vehicle was stopped by Granfanllys and the man was arrested. Later, he was taken to the county jail.

Donald Lee Colby, 75, of Crestwood Circle in Salem, was arrested at 5:53 p.m. on Feb. 1 on a DUI charge. Police were sent to the area of South Policy Street and Pelham Road for a motor vehicle complaint about a vehicle “all over the road,” according to a report. The vehicle, according to police, “almost hit head-on traffic numerous times.” A man was arrested and released on personal recognizance.
