Salem Police Report First Drug Death of 2016

A Massachusetts woman OD'd this morning at the La Quinta Inn, according to Capt. Joel Dolan.

SALEM, NH - Police officers were sent to the La Quinta Inn on Keewaydin Drive in Salem for a reported overdose at just after 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 11, 2016, according to Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department.

When the arrived, the officers found a 38-year-old Dracut, MA, woman suffering from an apparent overdose.

“The male in the room, whom identified himself as her husband, admitted to officers they had just snorted a line of heroin,” Dolan stated.

Officers began life saving measures and were assisted by the Salem Fire Department. Their efforts included administering two doses of Narcan.

The woman was transported to Holy Family Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Dolan noted that she was the first drug death in Salem for the New Year, according to a statement.
