When they arrived, the officers leared that the customer – Yerian – allegedly became irate when an employee refused to cash a check for her.
“The female then picked up a large metal, three-hole punch from a desk and hit the manager on the head,” stated Capt. Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department. “The woman then jumped on the manager, pulled her hair, and slammed her up against the wall. The victim said she was then strangled to the point where she could not call for help.”
Other employees heard the racket and attempted to stop the alleged assault. Yerian then allegedly struck a male employee in the back of the neck and scratched him before fleeing the bank. She later left the parking lot in a vehicle but was stopped a short distance away, according to police.
“After speaking with the suspect, it was confirmed she was the person from the bank,” according to Dolan.
Yerian was held on $5,000 cash bail and arraigned this morning.
