“Several other motorists who had witnessed the crash alerted (the trooper) that the male driver fled the scene into the woods on the east side of the Interstate,” according to Staff Sgt. Bryan Trask of the NHSP. “They provided a detailed description of the driver to (the trooper) who then in turn alerted other state police units as well as the Windham Police Department units in the area.”
While police were hunting for the driver, the trooper at the scene found out that the Honda Civic was stolen from Lowell, MA, according to Trask. Witnesses alleged that the Civic was “weaving through traffic at a high rate of speed as it was passing other vehicles,” and was allegedly “attempting to pass traffic in the left breakdown lane at a high rate of speed when the driver crashed into a portable electronic construction sign.”
