Another Extreme Weather Week For NJ: Latest On Storms, Heat
Triple digit heat and rounds of severe thunderstorms kick off Monday, and it'll only get worse as we get later into the week.

NEW JERSEY — Expect another unpleasant summer week with dangerously high temperatures and rounds of severe thunderstorms, according to the latest forecast.
Some areas of the state already had a round of storms Monday, and more are in store, according to the National Weather Service. On top of that, must of the state is under a "heat advisory" through 6 a.m. Wednesday. In North Jersey, temperatures will feel like up to 105 degrees. Down south, it could feel like up to 109 degrees.
The rest of the state, which is much of Central and some of South Jersey, are under an "excessive heat warning" until 6 a.m. Wednesday, with "dangerously hot conditions" and heat indexes up to 108 degrees in the forecast.

Late day showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday, forecasters said, with damaging wind gusts near 60 mph and heavy rain being the most likely hazards. The highest risk area is the northwest portion of the state. These will taper off after sunset, forecasters said.
Tuesday is going to be "the hottest and most oppressive" of the heat wave, according to the National Weather Service, with it feeling like 105 to 110 degrees in much of the state.

The heat and high humidity will also make possible for storms to form in the afternoon and evening Tuesday and Wednesday.
A cold front will head in Wednesday, providing somewhat of a break from the heat, but also ushering in more storms, according to forecasters.
"The cold front moving into a very hot and very muggy air mass in the northern Tennessee Valley and into the Northeast and mid-Atlantic will lead to explosive thunderstorm development," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
