63-Year-Old Man Rescued From Water Tower In South Jersey

Police, fire, EMS, and a rescue squad all were called to the scene.

FLORENCE, NJ — A man who was having a medical emergency while working on the top of a water tower was rescued on Wednesday evening, Florence Township Police said.

Officials responded to the tower on Cedar Lane for a report of a 63-year-old man who was having a medical emergency while doing an inspection on the structure.

He was not an employee of Florence Township but was there in a professional role at the time.

The Burlington County Technical Rescue Team responded due to the elevated and confined surroundings.

The man was safely attached to a rescue board and lowered using rope rescue methods, officials said.

He was then taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Florence Township Fire and EMS officials also responded to the scene.
