Another Round Of Severe Storms Forecast For NJ Monday

The Garden State can expect more thunderstorms again Monday afternoon ahead of what looks to be a pleasantly cool and dry week.

NEW JERSEY — After downpours and flooding drenched parts of New Jersey Sunday night, another round of storms is in store Monday afternoon, according to the latest forecast.

By midday, the clouds should give way to partly sunny skies with highs in the mid-low 80s for most of the Garden State, the National Weather Service said.

Then, a cold front will move through the area, kicking off another round of showers and storms, though not expected to be as strong as Sunday's, forecasters said.

With this round, damaging winds are the primary threat. The flood risk is not as great, however, a coastal flood advisory is in place for much of the state through early Tuesday.

As the front passes through, the thunderstorm threat and dew points will fall rapidly behind it, according to forecasters.

This will usher in a few days of drier, cooler air, with much less humidity - dew points on Tuesday are forecasted in the mid-upper 40s, which is the lowest they've been all summer, the National Weather Service said. High temperatures will be in the 70s statewide.

"This will feel like late September rather than late August," the National Weather Service said.

Here's the latest forecast.
