DoorDash Now Delivers Alcohol From NJ Bars, Liquor Stores
DoorDash said New Jersey customers will be able to order beer and wine from eligible merchants starting Thursday.
NEW JERSEY — Delivery service DoorDash announced this week it will now offer alcohol delivery from bars, restaurants and liquor stores to New Jersey customers. The move comes a year after the state adopted a rule allowing third-party companies to deliver booze in the Garden State.
In a statement on the company's website, DoorDash said customers can order beer and wine from eligible merchants starting Thursday.
To see participating retailers in a specific area, customers should download the DoorDash app and navigate to the "Alcohol" tab.

Erik Ragotte, DoorDash's general manager of alcohol and convenience, said the company has implemented "robust safeguards" to ensure responsible delivery to consumers.
Delivering to college campuses, hotels, offices, and BYOB restaurants is prohibited. DoorDash delivery drivers will also be required to pass alcohol compliance training, be at least 21 years old and undergo a background check, the company said.

When ordering alcohol, consumers will be required to provide an ID both before their first delivery and during all subsequent deliveries. They must also meet their DoorDash driver face-to-face — no contactless delivery is allowed.
New Jersey is now among 35 states to allow home delivery of alcohol through DoorDash, according to the company.
