Hurricane Beryl Remnants Could Soak NJ This Week: See Timeline

Expect another week of triple-digit temperatures and thunderstorm threats as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl make their way to NJ.

NEW JERSEY — New Jerseyans are in for another hot, humid and stormy week, with greater threats of thunderstorms later in the week as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl cross into the region, according to the latest forecast.

The week kicks off with "dangerously hot and humid conditions" on Monday and Tuesday, the National Weather Service said. The whole state, minus Cape May County, is under a heat advisory for these days. Temperatures are expected to be around 100 degrees, forecasters said. The advisory is only through Tuesday, but the heat and humidity could continue through Thursday.

As we get later in the week, "the big story with this period is the approach of Beryl, primarily Wednesday into Thursday," the National Weather Service said.

The forecast tracks the storm further west of New Jersey, but forecasters warn that there's still an up to 70 percent chance of heavy rain to hit the state.

"The remnant low of Beryl still looks to track northwest of our region, keeping the strongest forcing generally northwest of our region as well," National Weather Service forecasters said. "That being said, still looks like we will have considerable coverage of storms particularly north and west of the fall line."

It should be relatively quick, forecasters said, though we still could see flash flooding. The highest risk is along and north of the I-78 corridor.

Heat during this time could be limited too, as clouds may come in early enough to do so, forecasters said.

Chances for thunderstorms with heavy rain continue Friday into Saturday.

"The biggest concern I have with this period of the forecast is the potential for heavy rain," the National Weather Service said. We could get downpours in most of the state, again bringing the risk of flash flooding.
