Severe Thunderstorms Could Pop Up In NJ Monday: Latest Forecast

Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and small hail are both possible this afternoon in New Jersey, according to the forecast.

NEW JERSEY — Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms could pop up across New Jersey Monday afternoon into evening, ahead of a more unsettled week in the Garden State, according to the latest forecast.

Storms Monday are expected between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. across much of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

These storms could have damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph and small hail, forecasters said.

"While widespread severe thunderstorms are unlikely, a couple storms may become strong to locally severe, with damaging wind gusts being the main threat," the National Weather Service said.

It'll be a summery day too, as high temperatures will get into the mid-to-upper-80s Monday afternoon.

And Tuesday and Wednesday will get hotter with temperatures into the 90s and possibly going over 100 on Wednesday.

Severe storms again are in store Wednesday with more strong wind gusts, the National Weather Service said.

Thursday will be "rather cool," the National Weather Service said, and unsettled, rainy weather here will head into the weekend.
