Big Weather Shift After Sunday Storms
Some rain is on the way followed by the first 70-degree temperatures of 2026 in New Jersey, the National Weather Service says.
After weeks of bitter cold and seemingly persistent snow, New Jersey will get its first taste of sustained warm weather this week, according to the National Weather Service.
That's after we get some rain on Sunday morning, forecasters said. Some thunderstorms are possible early Sunday, the forecast said.
The weather service Mount Holly office said the state is in for its first 70-degree days of 2026, possibly as soon as Monday.

"We'll finally break out of our chilly weather pattern as a warm front lifts north," forecasters said Saturday evening. "The pattern in the few days ahead will be much warmer, and many inland areas will experience their first 70-degree day of the year by Tuesday or Wednesday."

A warm front moving into the area late Saturday into the pre-dawn hours Sunday will be followed by a cold front that will keep temperatures below 70 and could cause some storms into late Sunday morning or early afternoon, the forecasters said.

The rain should clear out by afternoon and warmer air should move in bring temperatures in the 60s on Monday and into the 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday, the forecasters said.
Dense fog is likely because of warm, moist air in the region and very cool ocean temperatures, particularly near the coasts, the forecasters said.
Scattered showers could return later in the day on Wednesday, the forecasters said, particularly north of Interstate 95.
The arrival of 70-degree weather — the first in four months — is about average for the time of year, the weather service said.
