Looming Coastal Storm Could Soak NJ This Weekend
The first few days of meteorological fall will be dry and cool. That could change by Saturday, forecasters say.
NEW JERSEY — The first full weekend of September could be punctuated by a soaking coastal storm in the Garden State, according to forecasters.
Meteorological fall began on Sunday, with dry and cool weather ushering in the new month. But forecasters warn that this weekend might change that.
Temperatures will be about the same through Friday, staying in the upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters initially expected a coastal storm to meet with a cold front from the west, however, it looks like the two will miss each other. That said, Saturday is still expected to be a rainy day, with a few scattered to isolated thunderstorms, National Weather Service forecasters said.
AccuWeather forecasters said that the rain could fall in excess of 1 to 2 inches, raising the possibility of flash floods.

"In addition to bringing a 12-hour period of soggy weather, it's not out of the question that this storm could bring drenching downpours," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.
The National Weather Service had a slightly different point of view. Those forecasters said that "this Saturday system appears to be just some beneficial rain."
Behind the rain follows another period of dry, cool weather into next week.
