• Northern Highlands names Allendale school head as next superintendent (northjersey.com) — Allendale residents will see a familiar education leader take over at Northern Highlands Regional High School, which serves Allendale students. Longtime Allendale superintendent Dr. Michael J. Barcadepone has been chosen to lead the regional district starting January 2, 2027, following Dr. Scot Beckerman's retirement. The district cites his record of boosting achievement and strengthening academic programs.
   

• Volunteering Helps New Roadrunners Find Community Before Classes Begin (ramapo.edu) — Ramapo College students in the Leaders in Service program spent part of their summer helping improve the Celery Farm Nature Preserve in Allendale, removing old boardwalk and replacing it with mulch to ease flooding. Their work there, along with projects around Mahwah, gave new Roadrunners an early connection to the communities surrounding campus. Allendale residents may notice trail improvements and better drainage at the preserve.
   

• Shore Conference football Defensive Players of the Week, Aug. 27-29 (nj.com subscription) — A recent Shore Conference football roundup highlights standout defensive performances from across New Jersey, including a strong game at Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale. Toms River North linebacker Kam'ron Morse racked up 12 tackles and three sacks in Allendale as his team edged Northern Highlands 17-14. Local fans can see how Bergen County's powerhouse stacked up against Shore programs.
